Investments in any of these Portfolios are subject to certain risks, including the possible loss of principal. Any Portfolio may not achieve its investment objective. Portfolios that invest in one economic sector, such as Seligman Communications and Information Portfolio and Seligman Global Technology Portfolio, may be subject to greater price fluctuations than a portfolio of diversified investments. In addition, the securities in which these Portfolios invest may be subject to greater government regulation, greater price fluctuation, and limited liquidity. The stocks of smaller companies may be subject to above-average risk. Certain Portfolios may invest in global stocks, which may be subject to additional risks, including currency fluctuations, foreign taxation, differences in financial reporting practices, and rapid changes in political and economic conditions. To the extent that a Portfolio invests a substantial percentage of its assets in an industry, that Portfolio's performance may be negatively affected if that industry falls out of favor.

Portfolios with fewer holdings, such as Seligman Smaller-Cap Value and Seligman Large-Cap Value Portfolios, may be subject to greater volatility than a portfolio with a greater number of holdings.

An investment in any Portfolio is neither insured nor guaranteed by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or any other government agency.

Please see a current prospectus for Seligman Portfolios, Inc. for additional information about the risks involved with an investment in any of these Portfolios.

Shares of the Portfolios are offered to separate accounts of participating insurance companies to fund variable annuity and variable life insurance contracts. In addition, Class 2 shares of the Seligman Communications and Information Portfolio are available to certain qualified pension or retirement plans. If you own or are considering owning such insurance contracts, please refer to the prospectus relating to your variable insurance contract to determine which class of shares is available and for information about charges and expenses imposed by contracts on their owners. If you are a participant in such a pension or retirement plan, you should consult such plan's governing documents or the plan administrator for information about related charges and expenses.
